Ice Cream FUNdraiser for EFF

What Was It?

LUGOD hosted a "FUNdraiser" to help collect money for the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

Robin Gross, EFF's intellectual property attorney (closely involved in EFF's Campaign for Audio Free Expression and the DVD/DeCSS cases) was be there!

Photos are available!!!

Why?

EFF is a non-profit, non-partisan organization working in the public interest to protect fundamental civil liberties, including privacy and freedom of expression in the arena of computers and the Internet.

Supporting the EFF helps to protect your future rights in the rapidly developing online community.

How Did It Work?

People simply dropped by Ben & Jerry's in Davis and bought some ice cream! Ben & Jerry's will total the receipts and send us 25%.

LUGOD will in turn forward that to EFF.

When Was It?

Wednesday
June 13th, 2001

Where Was It?

Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream
500 First St. #9

Thanks for Helping!

Thanks to Pete Salzman for coordinating helpers. Thanks to Pete Salzman, Rhonda Bailey, Bill Kendrick and others for helping to put flyers up for this event.

Thanks to Doug Barbieri and Nicole Carlson for staffing the info. table inside Ben & Jerry's during the event.

And, of course, thanks to everyone who showed up and bought ice cream!

$133.39 worth of ice-cream was sold during the event, so LUGOD gained $33.48. We're donating an additional $66.52 to raise the grand total to $100.00.

Afterwards

At about 8:30, Robin and Patrick from EFF, and some LUGOD members headed up to Sacramento to join SacLUG at the trailing end of their meeting.
