Sunnyvale Baylands Park, Sunnyvale CA

The 5th annual Linux anniversary picnic and barbecue was held on Sunday, August 14th, 2005 in Sunnyvale. It was coordinated by members of BayLISA (Cupertino), CABAL (Menlo Park), LUGOD (Davis), PenLUG (Redwood Shores), SVLUG (San Jose) and sbay.org (San Jose).

It was sponsored by Barracuda Networks, BayLISA, BitPusher, Canonical, Coco Ranch, Google, Linux-Consulting.com, Mini-Box, No Starch Press, OffMyServer.com, Open Country, Oracle Technology Network, O'Reilly & Assoc., Penguin Computing, Addison-Wesley/Prentice Hall PTR, Polywell Computers, Sonic.net, USENIX and Vattar Group.

The welcome table opens up just after 11am, and people line up to sign in and get t-shirts.

The large Picn*x sign from last year is put up.

Tons of raffle items were donated by numerous sponsors.

The crowd starts settling.

The sign in line shrinks down... for now.

People check out the raffle items they might be winning.

We also have a lot of give-away materials.

Grill #1 was doing veggie burgers.

The Ham Radio booth: Marc Merlin, Ian Kluft and Ian's nephew on the left, Justin Rocha on the right.

The mass of books were raffled away, with a few left over for people to take dibs on.

The huge crowd that gathered for the raffle starts to disperse.

More winners coming by to pick a book.

More sign-ins and t-shirt grabbing.

Out in the field, frisbees, whistling footballs and other equipment gets used by the kids.

Pétanque, as usual!

After the picnic, Ian Kluft and others take down the Ham radio antenna.

Despite our best efforts, very few acoustic instruments were brought to this year's picnic.
